The Italian association for the study and control of environmental contamination (ASCCA) is organizing a very interesting and useful workshop (Naples, May 18th) focused on lean technology in the hospital environment.

With the exponential growth of new cell treatments and innovative types of cures, these types of events are even more useful to better understand the regulatory landscapes and the new possible solutions present in the market. The workshop has been created thanks to the growing interest of the hospital sector to acquire process instrumentation or elaborating the preparatory URS to create controlled contamination areas.

The event will be divided into two different parts: one morning session dedicated to the contamination control with significant examples, followed by two parallel afternoon sessions, focused on the antiblastic drug units, and on cell manipulation laboratories.

The workshop is finalized to create a meeting spot for those working in the field of environmental contamination control, the end-users of the products, and all the figures that want to acquire this type of instrumentation. Moreover, various important Italian regulatory figures will attend as speakers at the event, sharing their fundamental know-how and experience.

Interestingly, one of the topics of the workshop will be the application of isolators in the field of cellular manipulation. The isolators are based on the concept of the closed system. These types of facilities are structured to be physically separated from the external environment, guaranteeing a perfect division between the operator and the biological product. Isolators represent an innovative option for ATMP manufacturing and should be preferred to the classical clean room according to the guidelines, reducing costs and enhancing the safety of both the operator and the biological product.
